Buzzards and Worms is a Community Interest Company rooted in nature, human connection, and care for the world around us now, and in the future. We exist to bring individuals, families, and communities closer to the natural world through inclusive, accessible and meaningful experiences.
Buzzards and Worms creates opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with nature in ways that support mental health, build confidence, deepen connections with our environment, and strengthen community bonds. We operate in Norfolk, UK.
Through workshops, outdoor activities, funded projects and collaborative sessions, we offer welcoming spaces where learning, creativity, nature and humans grow.

Research shows people with a strong connection with nature are typically happier in life, as nature can generate many happy emotions, including calmness, joy and creativity – Mental Health Foundation
We believe lasting change happens when individuals and communities are empowered to shape their own environments and futures by using existing skills, learning new ones, sharing knowledge with each other and growing in resilence and diversity through experience.
As a CIC our pupose is driven by social need and impact. We reinvest our resources into the communities we serve, ensuring our work remains sustainable, inclusive and responsive to local needs.
At Buzzards and Worms we love to play, explore, create, grow and connect. We foster special, reciprocal relationships between humans and nature, keeping alive the ancient ways of being, and noticing the interconnectedness of all beings.

Why is Our CIC called Buzzards and Worms?!
After spending a lot of time trying to land on a name that fits what we ‘do’…(although we prefer being than doing), we found words didn’t match up to the heart of our intentions. Buzzards and Worms is inspired by the soaring buzzard high up in the sky, great observer of the world below – to the small, humble underground worm, under the soil, doing it’s worm-like thing and enriching our soils for life to thrive. Wow. The BIG and the small. The seen and unseen, and all that is in between that vast space of life. From the skies above to the soils below we take great inspiration from the natural cycles in our work, and believe everyone belongs in nature.
We are thrilled with our logo which was dreamed up by our Founder Shona, based on the work that she does in nature and created with beauty and skill by Samantha Symonds. Please do check out Sam’s work here.

Shona sundhari
Founder, Director, Creatrix, Facilitator
My happy place is being in nature with people, on my own or with my dog. Being outside is uplifting and inspiring, and being in community, discovering, sharing and learning together is my medicine to the fast paced world that I find myself living in.
Buzzards and Worms is close to my heart, having had my own recovery journey after burnout as a teacher. I found healing by slowing down, paying attention to my environment, watching ants, talking with folk around the fire, foraging plants and cooking together, learning about how to grow my own food. Buzzards and Worms CIC is a gift back to my community, and to myself, after my experiences led me to radically reimagine how I could support others and work in the world in ways that are healthy, nourishing and fun. I love my work and I am so grateful for my journey here and all the wonderful people I have met along the way.
Some things about me…
Favourite flower – oooo that’s tough. Sunflowers, dahlias, poppies
Favourite food to grow – Nothing beats the mouth sensational joy of tomatoes and cucumbers straight off the plant! Digging up potatoes is a real joy-giver too!
Ideal nature moment – Either solo hammock time with bird song, or around a fire with community; sharing food, stories and songs under a stary sky. Magic. I have to include watching children be wowed by nature. That makes my heart burst.
What would you dream day be? Early sauna and sea swim with friends, walk with my dog, pottering in my garden or at the allotment, lunch at River Green in Norwich, some gentle crafting and a fire and food with friends before sleeping in my tent!
Favourite quote – “Colors are the smiles of nature.”

Rosie Anne
Director, Psychotherapist
I’m delighted to be involved with Buzzards and Worms as I share Shona’s belief that humans do best when they are connected with others around a shared purpose on the land. A clear mind, simple joys, and smiles flow with ease at these gatherings she curates with loving care.
I’m a psychotherapist specialising in development trauma, working with adults online and in Norwich. I love to dance, drum and sing, and am happy to play a small part in the movement to gently reconnect people with their hearts and intuition.

Serena Monaco
Director, Scientist
I am a biological scientist – I am excited about all things nature, microbes especially, and I love discovering how they work and interconnect.
Equally exciting I find experiencing how us humans connect when we are out in nature. I was lucky to come across Shona’s work and experience how she connects hands and souls intergenerationally on the land, and learn about her vision of life gardening, which I find deeply enlightening. I strongly believe that we need more of this Earth connection and grounding in the world and I am thrilled to be involved with Buzzards and Worms and to play a little part in making this happen.
Favourite flower – freesias as it was my grandma’s favourite flower and she would bring home this scented colourful bunches which meant winter was over
Favourite food to grow – well tomatoes of all sort, and basil! I am Italian after all… my children love sweet peas now, so that’s a new favourite too, love to see them climb.
Ideal nature moment – Early morning by the sea, the empty beach, watching the sand glow up minute by minute, the sea breeze, gentle sound of the waves and birdsong, bliss.
What would your dream day be? It would be a day spent in heart connection with my closest people and myself. Breakfast around the table with my family, slow morning drinking coffee and cooking lunch. In the afternoon, a nature adventure with a friend, then getting to lay on the beach or a patch of grass in the forest talking about the things of life. Chocolate and good music to finish the day.
